The “Rhododendronpark Hobbie” has been an attractive excursion destination for many decades and is enjoying increasing popularity. In the season of 2018 the park celebrated its 90th anniversary. The tree population of the park is over 300 years old - and therefore, even without the rhododendron blossom, a true oasis of relaxation.
With a total area of 70 hectares, it is not only Germany's largest rhododendron park, but is also considered by experts as one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe.
A 2.5 km long circular path with many benches leads through the park to rest and linger. It leads you to a show garden facility where you can get an overview of the rhododendron species growing here, their various flower colors and variations as well as the countless leaf and growth forms.
In 2016, three new projects were presented to visitors: First, the Yakushimanum garden, in which the best varieties of the sun-friendly and compactly growing game species are exhibited. On the other hand, an azalea garden has been created, in which a collection of origins, breeding successes and rarities is presented.
For a leisurely stroll on the circular route you need about 1-1.5 hours. But you can also spend a whole day with us in the park and even then you won't have seen everything, because the park is 70 hectares in size and can be accessed via a more than 10km long network of paths. The shredded paths in the front area, on which you can hike under the tree-like rhododendrons with jungle-like charm, are particularly attractive. This area is particularly well received by children and the young at heart.
The Rhododendron Park Hobbie is a purely private park, which we now maintain and maintain in the 3rd generation with all our love and strength. We are grateful to be able to work and live with and for this wonderful park and our greatest concern is to share this with as many people as possible.
The park café with lunch table provides for physical well-being during the flowering period. You can let yourself be pampered by our friendly and quick service in a cozy ambience and a view of the park.
What else you should know: Dogs are also welcome, but we ask you to keep them on a leash; Bicycles unfortunately have to stay outside and smoking is not permitted.
